General Description: Renova Hot Springs are a primitive rock bottomed hot springs located in an estuary of the Jefferson River in Montana. The hot springs are undeveloped and free and are off a dirt road. The local custom is clothing optional.
Location: Approximately 10 miles south of Whitehall, Montana about 1 hour 45 minutes drive from Bozeman, Montana
Directions: From Bozeman, take I-90 west to Whitehall. Head South on highway 287 about 10 miles to the Waterloo. Turn left at the Waterloo junction. This road will take you to a bridge over the Jefferson River. Cross over the bridge and make a left on Loomont which is a dirt road.go east about 3 miles. At the T junction at Point of Rocks Rd. make a left. You are doubling back to get on the right side of the river where the hot springs are. Go North for about 4 miles. There will be a small pull-off for parking on the right. The hot springs is down the hill about 30 feet on your left on the river bank.
Accessibility: Renova Hot Springs are very accessible. You will need to drive on a dirt road for approximately 7 miles. The road conditions can greatly affect access especially in the wet and snow season. Once you park your car, it is an easy 0.1 mile moderately trafficked hike down to a river bank.

Hot Springs: Renova Hot Springs have two hot water seeps on a side channel of the Jefferson River. Volunteers have built rock bottomed pools in the river channel, and river water can flow at times through and over the rock walls of the pool to mix with the 110- to 122-degree-F thermal water. The temperature of the pools depend on the flow of the river.
Hot Spring Tips: Renova Hot Springs is best from March to October. Be aware of the road conditions. In the spring the hot springs can be under water during spring run off. You can check the CFS which is how high or low the water flows. It need to be around 700 CFS. Bring a tennis ball. You may need a plug for the hot springs. While in the area check out the Lewis and Clark Caverns and Upper Potosi Hot Springs. This hot springs is pet friendly. Dogs need to be on a leash. No dogs in hot springs.
