General Description: Rico Hot Springs is a primitive hot springs on the banks of the Dolores River in the San Juan National Forest. Rico features two separate geothermal areas that are a short walk apart from each other. These iron mineral waters makes the color brown. Rico is on private property. You need the owners permission to soak. Only Rico residence have access to the hot springs. See the website above for more details.
Location: From Durango, Colorado is 80 miles or and hour and a half to drive to the hot springs.
Directions: From Durango, Colorado take US-160 W 27.2 mi Turn right onto CO-184 W/N Main St Continue to follow CO-184 W 17.4 mi Turn right onto CO-145 N Destination will be on the right 38.7 mi

Hot Springs: Rico Hot Springs have two geothermal soaking areas within walking distance. The first hot springs is a short distance from the parking area. It is the more popular and developed hot springs. It features a large fiberglass tub. The temperature ranges around 100 degrees depending on the season. The second hot springs is a underdeveloped pool. It can be found about 100 yards upstream, on the other side of the river. The second is also about 100 degrees.
