General Description: Spencer Hot Springs is a raw and rustic hot springs experience with spectacular views of the Toiyabe National Forest in the middle of the Nevada desert. In a open desert valley you will find free unrefined cluster of natural very hot geothermal springs on unimproved public land. This is an off road hot springs experience. Clothing is optional.
Location: From Austin Nevada take US 50 east. It is about 19 miles from Austin.
Directions: Located off SR376, just east of the junction to Highway 50. Watch for the turn-off near mile marker 99, take the dirt road approximately 10 miles. The Springs are to your left.
Accessibility: The road to the hot springs is a dirt road. Check road conditions. You take the dirt road for 10 miles. You can park and walk to the hot springs. Be careful because of the extreme hot water.
Hot Springs: Spencer Hot Springs has 4 different sources. Be careful around the sources. It can be dangerous. Signs are posted. The metal tub hot springs is between 100 - 120 degrees. You can control the flow of water into the tub. There is a larger pool in the ground. It is mud bottomed. It is about 106 degrees. It is about 12 X 12. There is a metal pool and surrounding spring above these pools. It is where the mules drink from at night. The temperature is below body temperature.
Hot Springs Tips: You have to go off road to get to the hot springs. A good vehicle is recommended. Check road conditions before going. Clothing is optional. This hot springs are free. Spencer is 40 minutes from services. There is camping spots in the area around the hot springs in the desert. Please do not park next to a hot springs. Please do not camp next to a hot springs. This hot springs gets alot of traffic. This hot springs is pet friendly. Dogs need to be on a leash. No dogs in hot springs. No glass please. Please be aware there are wild mules that come to the hot springs to drink. Respect them and their space. They can charge and bite.
