General Description: Rocky Canyon Hot Springs is located along the Middle Fork Payette River in the Boise National Forest. You need to forge the river to get to this gem. It is primitive and rustic hot spring pools with the built up rocks. The pools are cooler as the hot spring water cascades to the river.
Location: From Boise, Idaho it is about an hour and half
Directions: From Boise, Idaho Take W State St to ID-55 N in Eagle 18 min (7.6 mi) Turn right onto ID-55 N 39 min (33.7 mi) Follow Banks Lowman Rd to Middlefork Rd in Valley County 41 min (21.8 mi)
Accessibility: Accessibility is good. The hardest thing to do is forge a river, which can be freezing in the winter. Rocks are slippery in the river. You will need to drive on a dirt road and hike to hot springs.
Hot Springs: Rocky Canyon Hot Springs can range in the number of rock pools. The hot springs can vary in temperature. The top pool is the hottest around 100 degrees. It cools as it cascades to the next pool to the river.
