Vulcan Hot Springs
General Description: Vulcan Hot Springs boasts the largest natural hot springs pool in Idaho. This amazing emerald green geothermal pool is damned with wood from the Boise National Forest. The hot springs are found off of the South Fork Salmon River Valley. This free hot springs is clothing optional.
Location: From McCall, Idaho it is 60 miles or one hour and forty-five minutes.
Directions: From McCall, Idaho Take Deinhard Ln to ID-55 S/S 3rd St 7 min (2.8 mi) Turn right onto ID-55 S/S 3rd St Continue to follow ID-55 S 31 min (26.8 mi) Continue on NF-22/Warm Lake Rd. Drive to NF-474/Stolle Meadows Rd 1 h 11 min (29.8 mi)
Accessibility: Vulcan Hot Springs is an easy hike. The hike is about 3/4 a mile one way. You can drive up to the hot springs trial head on paved road.
Hot Springs: Vulcan Hot Springs has the largest natural hot springs pool in Idaho. This amazing geothermal pool is damned with wood from the Boise National Forest. The source to the hot springs is 190 degrees. Be very careful. The pool is emerald green and about 30 feet across with a sand and mud bottom. The hot spring is about knee deep and the temperature averages 100-104 degrees.
Hot Spring Tips: This is a great hot springs for wildlife viewing opportunities. Beware of the Red Spider Mites. Keep your clothing and towel away from the hot springs area. Clothing optional. This hot springs are free. Open year round. Check road conditions in the winter. This hot springs is pet friendly. Dogs need to be on a leash. No dogs in hot springs.
