General Description: Black Rock Hot Springs are a primitive rock bottomed pools along the Rio Grande in New Mexico. Down the road from from the more popular Manby Hot Springs you will find two rugged soaking pools about body temperature depending on the season and the river run off of the old Rio Grande.
Location: From Taos, New Mexico it is 12 miles or about 25 minutes.
Directions: From Taos, New Mexico take NM-522 N to Acequia Madre del Llano Rd in El Prado

Accessibility: Black Rock Hot Springs is accessible via narrow one-lane bridge that takes you across the Hondo River, then cross the John Dunn Bridge over the Rio Grande. Go up the hill and park at the first switchback. It is an easy walk on the trail downstream to the hot springs along the Rio Grande.

Hot Springs: Black Rock Hot Springs has two soaking pools depending on the season. River Run off as a huge affect on the conditions of both pools. Accessibility is greatly affected by the season. The warmer pool is mud/gravel bottomed and rock walled. The temperature ranges 101 - 98 degrees depending on the season.
Hot Spring Tips: This hot springs is clothing optional. This hot springs is free. Day use only. No camping is allowed. There are some pit toilets located around the John Dunn Bridge. This hot springs is pet friendly. Dogs need to be on a leash. No dogs in hot springs. This hot spring goes under water in spring runoff. No glass.
