General Description: Terwilliger Hot Springs, commonly known as Cougar Hot Springs, is a renowned geothermal destination located in the Willamette National Forest, about 60 miles from Eugene, Oregon. The site features a stunning, artistic arrangement of five rock-walled geothermal pools constructed along a forested hillside. These pools cascade gently into one another, with temperatures progressively cooling as the water flows from the uppermost pool—fed by a natural spring issuing from a rock face. Terwilliger is mantained by a concessionaire and there is a fee for use. Parking is limited.

Accessibility: Accessibility is good You can drive right up the the parking area at the hot springs. Once in the parking it is a 1/4 mile through the forest. The path is well worn and easy to follow. Parking is limited and foot traffic can be heavy.

Hot Springs: The pools' sizes range from 3 to 12 feet across and 2 to 3 feet deep. The water source is above the topmost pool where the spring flows from a rock face at approximately 112 °F. The pools are on a hillside and cascade from one to the next so that each pool step lower is cooler than the one above it. The pool floors are mostly bedrock but some gravel, sand and debris remain at the bottom of the pools.
Hot Spring Tips: This hot springs has a fee at a kiosk. Make sure you pay the fee. Terwilliger is monitored by attendants. This hot springs is clothing optional. There is no glass allowed. Open Sunrise to Sunset all year long. The pools are closed Thursday mornings for weekly cleaning. This hot springs gets lot of foot traffic. This hot springs is pet friendly. Dogs need to be on a leash. No dogs in hot springs.
