Hot Springs: Wilbur Hot Springs features six primary soaking areas fed by a rare, naturally occurring mineral spring that flows at approximately 145°F from the source. The water is 100% natural, high in sulfur, silica, and magnesium, and utilizes a flow-through system that constantly replenishes the pools before returning to Sulphur Creek, ensuring purity without chemical treatments. The heart of the resort is the Japanese-style Fluminarium, a covered, clothing-optional bathhouse containing three strictly silent wooden flumes: the Cool Flume(98°F), the Warm Flume (105°F), and the Hot Flume (109°F). Outside the Fluminarium, guests have access to three additional water features including a Conversation Flume (105°F) for quiet talking, a large spring-fed swimming pool that is ambient in summer and geothermally heated in winter, and an antique clawfoot Cold Plunge (60°F–70°F) used for invigorating contrast therapy. Deep within the 1,800-acre nature preserve, guests can also discover the Fountain of Life geyser, a unique carbon-dioxide-driven geyser that erupts approximately every 45 minutes; while the geyser itself is a high-temperature geothermal feature, the nearby creekside tub is designed for comfortable, clothing-optional soaking. Under the resort's clothing-optional rules, nudity is permitted and common in the bathhouse and surrounding pool decks, but clothing is required in all other public areas, including the historic lodge, communal kitchen, and front office.
Hot Springs Tips: To make the most of your Wilbur Hot Springs experience, start by embracing the "Wilbur 1-2-3" method: soak for 15 minutes, take a quick cold plunge or shower, and then rest wrapped in a towel for 15 minutes to let the medicinal minerals—especially the high sulfur and lithium—absorb into your system. Since the resort is off-grid and solar-powered, bring a portable power bank if you need to charge small devices, though the goal is a true digital detox. Because there are no onsite restaurants, you should pack high-quality groceries and prep your meals in the communal kitchen, which is a great place to meet fellow travelers; consider bringing a cooler with ice, as fridge space can sometimes be tight. For the best stargazing and most peaceful soaking, visit the Fluminarium late at night or just before dawn when the steam rises in total silence. Don't forget to pack slip-on shoes for the wooden boardwalks, a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated in the high-heat flumes, and a bathrobe for comfortable transitions between the bathhouse and the lodge. Lastly, make time for the Fountain of Life geyser hike, but check the eruption schedule at the front desk so you don't miss its 45-minute cycle.
