General Description: Borax Lake Hot Springs is found at Borax Lake. Borax Lake is about a 10-acre alkali lake in the Alvord Desert of southeastern Oregon in the Steen Mountains. The lake is fed by geothermal hot springs about 100 feet below the surface that range in temperature from 105 to 300 degrees. Surface water temperatures can range from 60 to 105 degrees. Borax Hot Springs is owned by the Nature Conservatory.

Directions: From Burns, Oregon follow OR-205 S to Princeton 1 h 58 min (113 mi) Drive to Borax Lake Rd 12 min (2.8 mi)
Accessibility: Borax Hot Springs has good accessibility. The last two miles is on a dirt road. Road conditions depends on the season. Once at the hot springs the hike and walk is easy.

Hot Springs: Borax Lake is fed by geothermal hot springs. The temperatures range based on the season and to unstable water temperature changes by mother earth. Surface water temperatures can range from 60 to 105 degrees. Little Borax is the last in a string of hot pots that runs north from Middle Borax Lake. Hike about 1/2 mile north from the rusting borax works. The hot springs pools called ephemeral vents flow various sizes and temperatures. The ephemeral vents or hot pots can be deep and dangerously hot.
Hot Spring Tips: Borax Hot Springs is owned by the Nature Conservatory. Visitors are allowed. This hot spring is free. As of 1993, swimming in any of the lakes or hot springs is not allowed. The Conservatory protects of the unique and fragile ecosystem at Borax Lake. This hot springs is pet friendly. Dogs need to be on a leash. No dogs in hot springs.
