General Description: Lava Hot Springs is a world famous hot springs playground. Lava is over 100 years old and a family friendly destination located along the Portneuf River in the thermopolis of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. Lava boasts 5 outdoor gravel or rock bottom hot spring pools. Lava Hot Springs is day use only.
Location: From Pocatello, Idaho is 35 miles or about 35 minutes to drive to the hot springs.
Directions: From Pocatello, Idaho I-15 S/US-30 E/US-91 S from S 4th Ave 7 min (3.3 mi) Follow I-15 S/US-91 S to US-30 E. Take exit 47 from I-15 S/US-30 E/US-91 S 16 min (19.3 mi) Follow US-30 E to Main St in Lava Hot Springs 14 min (12.6 mi)
Accessibility: Lava Hot Springs is easy to access. You can drive up to the property. The hot springs is handicap accessible.
Hot Springs: Lava Hot Springs has a source on the property. Over 2.5 million gallons a day flow through the hot springs and are diverted into the Portneuf River keeping the springs ever changing and clean. Lava boasts 5 outdoor gravel or rock bottom hot spring pools. The spring's temperatures range from approximately 102˚ F to 112˚ F degrees. Lava does not use any chemicals in their hot springs. The mineral water has no odor or sulfur smell. Clothing is not optional. Bathing suits are required.
Hot Spring Tips: Lava Hot Springs is day use only. They offer no overnight accommodations. Lava has dressing rooms, showers, restrooms and coin operated lockers. They have a gift shop with snacks and drinks. This is a nonsmoking facility. Alcohol and glass containers are not allowed. Children 11 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult at all times in our hot pools facility. I recommend renting tubes and float the Portneuf River. This hot springs is pet friendly.
