General Description: Conundrum Hot Springs is a hiker hot spring adventure dream. Found on the Conundrum Creek Trail which climbs 2,500 feet over 8.5 miles you trek through jaw-dropping views that include Cathedral Peak (13,943'), Conundrum Peak (14,022') and Castle Peak (14,265') in the beautiful back country of Colorado outside Aspen. This hike through the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness makes it one of Colorado’s most unique hot springs hiking experiences.
Location: From Grand Junction, Colorado it is 160 miles or 3 1/2 hours.
Directions: From Grand Junction follow I-70BL E and 29 Rd to US-50 E in Orchard Mesa 9 min (5.0 mi)

Accessibility: The trailhead for the Conundrum Creek Trail is so close to Aspen. It takes about 5-8 hours to hike in and 3-6 hours to hike out, on average. The trail is at high elevation, beginning at about 8,000 feet and ending at about 11,200 feet. The Conundrum Hot Springs are located 8.5 miles from Conundrum Creek Trailhead off Castle Creek Road.
Hot Springs: The Conundrum Hot Springs are a wonderful celebration of a successful hike. The hot springs have one main pool and few smaller springs downhill. The upper pool is large and where most hikers gather. The Condundrum Hot Springs are communal. There is also a slightly smaller and cooler pool just downstream. The temperature range between 100-104 degrees. Temperature vary in season. Clothing is optional.
Hot Spring Tips: Conundrum Hot Springs has a permit-only system. All overnight users will be required to purchase and carry a permit when camping between Silver Dollar Pond and Triangle Pass. Camping is only permitted in designated sites you cannot have campfires in the upper campgrounds Clothing is optional. Bring your camera there is spectacular picture taking. Pack out what you pack out. Check road conditions before going. Bring enough supplies.
